I have a few questions based on nasty rumors I'm hearing about Forza 5's gameplay.
I know the car/track list was smaller and was planning on waiting
to see what the Day 1 DLC was and what other DLC packs would be
released. But after some of the things I've heard today, I'm very
worried that the game isn't nearly as good as Forza 4.
If any of you have Forza 5, can you confirm these things? Or if they're false, please correct me.
1. Free Drive/Hot Lap is gone.
I've heard that you can no longer take any stock car from the game
garage and hot lap it on any track in the game. What I've heard is that
this is only possible with cars you have in your garage and with
"rentals". I don't know what a rental is.
Did they really take this mode out?
2. Cars now cost lots of tokens.
Instead of cheap cars being 1, kinda expensive cars being 2, and
expensive cars being 3 tokens, now cars cost up to 10,000 tokens for the
Lotus F1 car. Is this true? Why did they do that? How exactly do car
tokens work and can you still buy cars with cash?
3. Online Car Clubs are gone.
Did they really take these out?
4. What is in Day 1 DLC pack?
What cars does this comprise of? And how full does it make the car list, compared to Forza 4?

You can get 13 bonus vehicles for Forza 5 by pre-ordering the $79.99 Limited Edition . If you opt for the $59.99 Day One Edition, though, you'll get these three cars:
2010 Audi TT RS Coupe – Stuffed stem to stern with modern tech, the TT RS is the first TT model to carry Audi’s famed RS badge – a distinction that’s earned on the track from the moment you step on the gas.
2013 Ford Focus ST — Debuting with the same 250-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine from the much larger Ford Explorer SUV, the new Ford Focus ST packs a serious punch.
2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera – Like great sculpture, the Superleggera’s chiseled form is carefully considered for maximum impact. That’s where the similarities end, however, because this work of art is best appreciated when it’s moving at top speed.

1. Free Play is limited to garage cars and a selection of rental cars. The rental cars include all the whiz-bang open-wheel cars and a healthy cross-section of the others. You can use the rental cars free of charge, but you can't earn XP or money from them.
2. Some cars do cost a lot of tokens; the Lotus E21 being the standout. BUT, tokens aren't the main currency in-game. You can still buy cars the way you're meant to by racing and earning credits. The tokens are there for the impatient and money-laden.
3. I've heard the clubs are gone.
4. The LaFerrari pack contains the following: 1989 Toyota MR2 SC, 2002 Lotus Esprit V8, 2002 Acura RSX, 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, 2013 BMW M6 Coupe, 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500, 1969 Dodge Charger R/T, 1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA, 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde. The required free day-one patch/DLC contains no new cars or tracks that haven't already been announced.

Right, I knew about those. But I'm talking about the "Day 1 DLC" that was talked about that would have additional cars BESIDES the VIP cars and the limited edition cars.
From what I understood, the Day 1 DLC was what the 'content disc' was to Forza 4.

That is entirely disappointing. I'm going to keep my eye on the DLC packs, but good lord, this is gutting.
Forza 4 is gonna get a lot more play time from me.

Just do what I'm gonna do. Wait the complete edition to come out next year, and you only pay 60 bucks. Plus, youll have time to get enough money for a one, if you don't already

that's seeming like the plan so far. But it also sounds like what we have IS the complete version, minus DLC.

I fucking hate all this 'pump you for gobs of money for the rest of the cars that should already be in the game' DLC bullshit. Oh, and Turn 10—way to never add any other tracks to your goddamn game . I would've paid a few bucks more if you'd added more tracks later on to keep Forza 4 interesting. And who's dumbass idea was it to cut the car club feature from the game? Everywhere I turn, some asshole's talking about making racing games a "social" experience-mostly I want it to be about racing , first and foremost-but the car clubs are an easy way to make you want to race with others you know online and are a good starting point for team-oriented event modes.

Well, with the differences between PCs and consoles (function-wise with the social features, apps, web browsers and internet requirements) gradually diminishing, I suspect a lot of developers are going to try to edge toward F2P models on consoles soon.
It's obnoxious and greedy, but time marches on.
